Scams and spams have always been around. Even in Web3 you need to be weary of possible scam or spam attempts. Rarible cares about our community and we want to try provide you with some tips to stay safe.
Please note that Rarible will never contact you unsolicited. Rarible wouldn't contact you through social media platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram. Be wary of direct messages from strangers and always use caution and good judgment if you engage with emails or direct messages sent from unknown users.
Examples of Potential Scams:
- Dear valid customer
- Account is not yet valid and documented to make sales
- To activate your account you need to pay 0.1ETH
- Without payment your account will not be valid to make sales
- Without payment your client's payment might likely burn
- If you buy this NFT today, its value will increase
- Send your seed phrase (12-words)
- You have to follow a link to receive or top up your funds
- You need to top up your funds and pay the gas fee for your sale to go through
- Become a promoter for Rarible
Here are Some Tips to Try Avoid Being Scammed:
- Don't answer or engage with emails sent from unknown users
- Don't go on to any sites that seem unauthentic
- If you're asked to send any personal information to someone, do not do it
- If you've been emailed saying that you've won something, don't believe it
- If you haven't performed a certain act for example, created (minted) an NFT on Rarible then do not trust emails that are sent to you claiming that you have
- Don't trust airdrops from unknown users or collections
- Search for the real website or email address before acting
- Use: https://www.virustotal.com/ to search for possible malicious or scam files, URLs, hashes, domains and IP addresses before clicking on or opening any file, message or email
- Remember that anything that sounds too good to be true, usually is!
Rarible Would Never Ask for the Following or Send the Following:
- Your wallet address (unless you've sent us an email or support ticket asking for help and we need to investigate further)
- Your seed phrase (NEVER GIVE THIS OUT TO ANYONE)
- Requesting funds or your banking details
- An email stating that you've successfully sold an NFT or your sale has failed and need to follow certain prompts (this would appear in your notifications on your Rarible profile and you'd see the sale of the NFT in your wallet)
- An email stating that you need to follow a particular link, download something or perform an act to receive funds
- A job offering to promote work for Rarible

- Email addresses ending in: @rarible.com
